I believe that I learn better through discussions. When we discuss about a certain topic, we often look for our own opinions and how we relate ourselves to the topic. By doing that, we can learn more and accept more new content about a certain topic. Not only that, we can also teach others about the content and tell them about our own point of view.

In my opinion, we learn better through controversy, discussions and cooperative learning. By discussing any topic with a group, you can see the many different opinions from many different viewpoints. If there were no discussions then many people would not get facts that do not support their view of a certain topic.

  3. I think yes. This makes us think more carefully about both sides of the topic and know what the other side thinks. It also encourages us to think carefully about the problem/topic.

I believe that communicating through methods such as controversy/discussions/cooperative learning is a good way for students to learn about new ideas and concepts.

I think that one is able to talk about his/her comments and ideas on a subject with other students so they may see the subject in a different perspective. Students are able to then gain more insight and create new hypotheses with the new information and ideas.

Ivan, I think that your point about how through discussion, we learn about other points of view is very good. Without discussion we would only concentrate on our own opinion of any topic

  7. I believe that this is beneficial for everyone involved. The more people there are in a discussion group, the more view points are made available. Through this, we can learn from others' advice and gain insight into their arguments.
Thus next time, we can take into consideration on their thought process and make a stronger point. Either way, we learn more in the end.

  8. I believe learning through discussions is a good way to learn because you learn other people's opinions, which will get you thinking in a way that other people think (open your mind). By looking at the subject in different sides, there are other things that we (by ourselves) would not have thought.
So that way, I think that learning by discussions is an exelent way to learn.

I agree with Jessica since having a discussion allows us to look at both sides of an argument.

I think that I learn better through cooperative learning. When I work with a group of people, I like to share my ideas with them. When we are sharing our ideas, I find what others think which might be totally different from what I think. By doing this, I think that I learn better because I am taking a look at different point of views, and different opinions.

  11. I believe that the aforementioned learning methods are effective and great ways for studnets to learn about lessons. Through controversies, one can be critically thinking and responding to whatever topic one is talking about, and through discussion, one can learn what other people are thinking and learn how to express one's own feelings to other people. Through cooperative learning, one can learn how to be cooperative and helping one another in terms of learning.

I believe I learn better through class discussions. I am able to hear other students thoughts and opinions on the subject. I can also learn whether my understanding on the subject is correct or not by comparing it with my peers' answers.

  13. I think that learning cooperativily can help as a group. If one person needs help, the others can help him. We can also learn much quicker, allowing us to learn quicker.

I agree with your ideas. Interacting with other people and discussing ideas about a topic is very effective because not everybody thinks the same way. By creating groups and talking about something together, much more perspectives can be viewed and observed and a conclusion can be reached with much more haste.

  15. I believe that I learn better through discussions, because within a group, all the members including myself are able to share our own opinions and ideas. When we are able to have discussions, it helps us learn how to work with others and also listening to each other's thoughts can also help us stimulate our own thoughts. When one member is stuck on a certain topic, the others can provide information or instructions to assist this member to step forward and understand the concepts, which I think is very helpful.

I also believe that working in groups can build up our willingness of participating and contributing in group activities. (:

Yes, I do believe that you learn better through controversy/discussions/cooperative learning. We can share ideas and see them in different perspectives. We can also help each other to understand whatever the topic is about. Other than that, we can learn how to cooperate with each other and improve our confidence.

I think that depending on what we are learning that we should use different methods. If the topic is something that can be conceived in different ways, controversy may be a better method to learn. But if it is something that is direct then controversy would not be the best way to learn the topic.

  21. Vesahka, I also agree that learning in discussions helps, as we can find different opinions from both sides of the argument. I agree that forming group discussions will help us in learning.

I believe that you learn better through controversy and discussions. This is beacuse through controversy, you will learn both sides of the argument and be able to gain more knowledge that way. Through discussions, you can hear everyone's opinion about that topic and then be able to add your own opinion and comments to the discussion. This way, not only will you learn but everyone else will learn learn new knowledge too. Also this helps you with group cooperation.

In my opinion, I believe that we learn better through discussions and cooperative learning. I think this because when you do discussions you learn about it from both points of view and you can decide which view you agree with. Cooperative learning is also good because you communicate and learn things that you might not have known if you were without your partner. You can teach things to your partner that they do not know and your partner can tell you things that you did not know.

I agree with the fact that learning in a group helps out with teamwork and cooperative skill building. We do improve in terms of our confidence in a peer group because we know them better. :)

  26. Sophy, I agree with you. It depends on what we are learning to determine what types of methods we should use. Each method has its own advantages for different situations therefore, for some it may have a greater effect on how and what people learn.

  29. Lucy, I agree with what you said, controversy and discussions are both excellent ways to learn. Controversy easily engages the students into what they are learning. Also, discussions are great ways to gain detailed information about the topic.

  30. I disagree with this blog. Controversies often have more than one opinion. The more we explore controversies the more we will develop different opinions.

  31. Ivan, I disagree with you. I agree that we need to recall information, but what if that is the wrong information? When we argue with other people which are we more likely to concentrate on: our own opinions, or someone else's opinions?

I think we learn better through controversy and discussions because without these two things you will only see your side of everything.
Through controversy and discussions, you get exposed to different opinions and get an idea of how others think. These different opinions can also enocurage you to think deeper into the topic.
In summary, discussions and controversy not only expose you to different views, perspectives, and opinions on a topic, but also motivates your mind to further explore the topic. This is why I learn better through controversy, discussions and cooperative learning.

I believe that working in a group would be better then working alone. For many different reasons. One major reason would be that we can gain other students information on top of the information we had before.

I believe it is better to learn in controversy, discussions and cooperative learning. We get to the many sides of one topic. The exposure to different sides keeps our minds open and thinking. Also, students will gain new information and ideas from sharing and communicating with others. Overall, I think learning in controversy/discussions/cooperative learning is a great idea!
