Recently, the Canadian Government has made it officially legal to copy content for personal use. Whether this means uploading a CD onto a computer to transferring it onto another disk, or recording a television program so it can be viewed at a later time, it is now legal to do so. However, at the same time, the government has made it illegal to break any technological protection materials in the content. This, as argued, is like giving with one hand, and taking away with another. The result in this bill will over ride previous rights allowing for news reporters to use copyrighted material in news reporting. Although, at the same time, will allow for technology firms to use this copyrighted information for research and development purposes. There has been great controversy revolving this topic. The new regulations has allowed us citizens to have the license, but will be penalized if we put it to use. The Conservative government will have to produce a new bill that will protect the artists, but at the same time prevent citizens from getting punished for using content that they have purchased.

Though thousands of Canadians have been copying content for personal use, this new bill passed by the Conservative government will finally make it legal to do so. However, the bill also makes it illegal for anyone to break the “digital locks” to copyrighted content. This rule overrides all the other freedoms given, even the ones stating journalists can use copyrighted material when reporting. Only technology firms can reproduce copyrighted material for research and development. The bill not only prevents citizens from copying material that they have bought, it also isn’t fair to the creators of the material. The bill reduces the amount an individual can be sued for when copying material for a non-commercial case from up to $1 million, to $5000.

  7. Can Computers Think?

Computers use artificial intelligance to think. Unlike humans computers do not have a brain they have a CPU. The CPU is a Central Processing Unit. The computer has to process data so it can get information. The computer uses symbols and numbers to think and work. The brain of the computer the CPU uses binary cords to perform its tasks. The computer is like a robot we tell it what to do so it does not need to think. So therefore i do not think an computer could think.

  10. can computers think?
computer uses the CPU (centeral processing unit) to process data, like how our brain process work. The hardrive stores permenent knowlege like how our brain stores permenent konwlege that stayes for ever. I think that computers can think.
